RemarkSwift: Taylor’s Feminism, Gorgeous: TS Makeup, A Game for the Eras, and ‘Game of Thrones’
Celebrate a Cruel Summer with us as we share Taylor Swift content all month!
‘Tis the Damn Season for summer thunderstorms ⚡️, ice cream 🍦 for dinner, and days at the beach 🏖…or The Lakes, if that’s more your speed. As the temps heat up 🥵 (in the Northern Hemisphere, at least) we’re excited to dive into July!
But first, let’s revisit last month’s content like a Taylor’s Version re-recorded album. First off, we celebrated Pride 🏳️🌈 by showcasing LGBTQ+ and Loving Day themed events hosted by our community members. Love is love! 🌈
June 3rd is an unofficial Gilmore Girls holiday (and a bit of a Remarkist anniversary) so we dedicated June 2023 to the TV show that birthed this fandom platform. To that end, we reflected on June 2022’s Super Sensational Summer Spectacular, a month-long celebration of all things Gilmore Girls. We wanted to bring readers of rmrk*st all of the exciting exclusive interviews 🗣 with cast and crew that we had last year, as well as share community and cast contributions by way of Memento Insights.
We learned all about the Gilmore Girls spinoff that never was with actress Alix Kermes, and about the coffee ☕️empire we might have seen had actor Joe Fria appeared for more than one episode as Joe Mastoni. We chatted with a couple of the show’s writers ✏️ as well as the show’s dialogue coach about creating that fast talking world fans know and love. From actor Mitch Silpa, we got an inside look at the world of The Groundlings, the comedy 🤣troupe where the likes of Melissa McCarthy, among so many other famous comedy actors, got their start. And actress Rini Bell told us all about her passion for making artisan soaps 🧼 based on the Gilmore fandom.
Our special hangout sesh with Keiko Agena revealed what she thought of the dynamic between Lane and Mrs. Kim. And Sean Gunn visited us a few times, and ultimately dug deep into what playing Kirk meant to him. One of Kirk’s most hilarious shining moments was playing Tevye in a Stars Hollow elementary school musical 🎵, and it’s no wonder: we explored how Amy Sherman-Palladino’s work is influenced by Broadway musical theater 🎭.
It wouldn’t be a Gilmore Girls themed month of fandom content if we didn’t also share the unique Memento Insights created and released by cast and fans on the Remarkist app! If you’re a Remarkist member, there might be some of these Mementos left to claim for your in-app collection! And don’t forget: you can play our ongoing Gilmore themed emoji game at any time!
Every day, we welcome new members to Remarkist through our Discord, THE place to be to meet other fans, learn about app developments and happenings, and most importantly attend events. So last month, it was time for an organizational refresh. Take a read and familiarize yourself with the new setup–we can’t wait to start chatting with you in our fandom forums and events!
Now that you remember last month All Too Well, let’s get into the amazing content we have planned at remrk*st for this one! This July, we’ll make the transition from those Lazy Crazy Hazy Days…to Cruel Summer. If you haven’t already guessed from the *super subtle hints* appearing throughout this piece, this month’s theme is…Taylor Swift!
The iconic singer-songwriter turned megastar is having a Gorgeous summer: her much talked-about Eras Tour has taken over stadiums all over the United States and is already on track to become the highest grossing concert tour in history. Swift will embark on several International legs soon (if you’re hoping to get tix 🎟, our fingers are crossed 🤞 for you!). And that’s not all: her newest, highly anticipated re-recorded album 💽, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), drops on July 7. And so we thought it was as good a time as any to declare rmrk*st Holy Ground for members of the established, new, and emerging Taylor Swift fandom! If you’re a seasoned Swiftie, this month is for you. And if you’re a newer fan or really aren’t familiar with her work, we are excited to take you on a journey of musical fandom: something we haven’t explored at this level at rmrk*st until now.
And on the Remarkist platform, we’ll be celebrating Swift as well! Members of the community have put together a Wonderland of programming through the Remarkist app for the month ahead. Remarkist Swifties will be hosting a plethora of content: watch parties 🍿 of documentaries, TV appearances and concerts, listening parties 🎧, and trivia, including a unique 13-Event “Remarkist (Taylor’s Version)” dedicated community slate. In addition, we’ve invited members of our community to Speak Now and submit their own article content, which we will be publishing right here at rmrk*st!
So Stay, Stay, Stay with us–so much amazing content lies ahead to keep you reading through August. Make sure to subscribe for lots of great content delivered straight to your inbox 📬, and Come Back…Be Here for updated links to these articles! Click that Red ❤️ button on the pieces you love, and please feel free to share with your friends. In the meantime, be sure to follow us on Instagram and Tumblr. We’d also love to hear from you if you’d like to submit a Memento Insight or write for us!
