Welcome back to our sixth and final season of Schitt$ Creek!
Starting the final season of a beloved show that I have become attached to is always bittersweet for me. Unwilling to compromise on quality and storytelling, I admire show creators Dan and Eugene Levy for choosing to end the show on their timing and terms, but itâs always hard for me to say goodbye to the colourful (or should I say monochromatic in Davidâs case đ€Ș), witty, and charismatic characters that I have become so attached to.
Arguably Schitt$ Creek chose to take its final bow at the pinnacle of itâs success, winning 9 Emmyâs (breaking the record for most wins in a single season for a comedy) and 2 Golden Globes for its final season, despite having been snubbed from the US awardâs scene for its first 5 seasons. We have the good folks at âInterflixâ to thank, for picking up the show in 2017 airing reruns, and introducing the Roseâs to an entirely new audience whoâd never even heard of Pop TV. The subsequent enthusiastic word-of-mouth support saw this series rise to comedic fame despite its humble origins.
The trajectory of the Rose family has followed closely with the success of the show with Moira, Johnny, Alexis and David all growing and blossoming over the course of the past 5 seasons. At the centre of it all is this place that we all know and love... Schitt$ Creek; a place that came into the lives of Dan and Eugene Levy and that of the Rose family at exactly the right time, almost as if by accident.
