Taylor Swift Eras, A New Take: The Gilmore Girls Cut
Redesigning Taylor Swift’s chart-topping albums for the Gilmore Girls fandom
What if Taylor Swift’s albums 💿 took place in Stars Hollow by our favorite Gilmore Girls… We know Lorelai can sing, so let’s just pretend. Do you know all of these Gilmore references? 🔍
Debut Era
Taylor Swift’s debut album was a charming ✨ introduction to the country-pop artist, filled with relatable teenage experiences. Since the album was self-titled, how could this not be titled by the teenager of the series, Rory Gilmore. Season 1 Rory has the same innocence that Taylor exhibits on her debut album.
Fearless Era
The main themes of Fearless are boys, love, and relationships. There was plenty of that in Rory’s life… What team are you? 👫 Taylor might be fearless, but Rory was always a little timid 🙈 until people got to know her.
Speak Now Era
Themes of crushes and bittersweet breakups flood Speak Now. Lorelai had her fair share of breakups 💔 too. With an album titled Speak Now, it was only appropriate to name this version “Talk Fast” 🗣 because life is short.
Red Era
Red covers a lot of intense emotions from love ❤️ to jealousy & frustration. 🧣 When it comes to Gilmore Girls, there was only one thing that made sense… Crimson–just don’t wear it at Yale.
1989 Era
Taylor Swift broke into the pop world with 1989, an album filled with independence and empowerment. 💪 No one is more independent than Lorelai Gilmore. 1989 was when Taylor was born, so 1779 was when Stars Hollow was founded.
reputation Era
Taylor Swift’s reputation is filled with vengeance and drama. 🖤 To be honest, I don’t even want to see Lorelai without caffeine. There were only a handful of times we witnessed that–it wasn’t a pretty picture. The influence that coffee ☕️ has over her was always astounding.
Lover Era
Following her darkest era, Taylor Swift released Lover, her happiest album full of love. 💖 Even the sad songs can be viewed through a hopeful, romantic gaze. 😍 Through seven seasons and the revival, we followed the Lorelais through their love stories, hoping they would find their happily ever after.
folklore Era
Written during the pandemic, Taylor Swift escaped from reality to make folklore, an album full of nostalgia, romanticism, and empathy. 🫂 I mean, don’t we all want to escape reality into Stars Hollow–just follow all of the town by-laws 📜 or Taylor Doose will be after you.👨⚖️
evermore Era
An extension of folklore, evermore has all of the complex feelings of being a human from love to grief and infidelity. You could even compare and contrast the two albums, like the two readings of The Raven. 📖 Don’t forget your flask for a nevermore drinking game. 🥃
Midnights Era
Taylor Swift’s latest album, Midnights, is a mix of all her albums. It includes anger 😤 (reputation), magic 🪄 (Lover), freedom 💃 (1989), and all of the complex emotions that Taylor has written about since the beginning. The town of Stars Hollow has it all too.
