Make the Friendship Bracelets: Memento Insights for Taylor Swift
Friendship Bracelets (Remarkist’s Version)
It’s been a Cruel Summer, folks! And by cruel, we mean cool. At rmrk*st, we dedicated July 2023 to Taylor Swift, and it’s been a long time comin’. Currently, Taylor is smashing records on the Eras Tour, and on July 7th, dropped her latest re-recorded album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). Fan creators in our community were right there with her, taking the opportunity to celebrate their fandom with Taylor-themed events on the Remarkist app platform. At rmrk*st, community contributors wrote articles about all aspects of Taylor Swift’s work and the fandom that surrounds her. In short, we had a marvelous time here at the Mag.
One thing the Eras Tour has made popular is the art of the friendship bracelet. Following Taylor’s instruction in the song, “You’re On Your Own, Kid,” to “make the friendship bracelets/take the moment and taste it,” fans are showing up to concerts and other Taylor-themed real world events with armbands full of bracelets they handmade to trade with others. Swifties at Remarkist hosting events on the platform took this idea to the digital level, and created bracelet Mementos to commemorate their watch parties, listening parties, games, and gab sessions dedicated to Taylor Swift’s enormous album catalog, concerts, and live appearances. And in the true spirit of friendship bracelet sharing, Dear Reader, we bring them all to you now!
A friendship bracelet maker is usually taking the opportunity to convey something personal about their fandom through the bead colors, charms, letters and words in order to share it with others. These bracelets do the same! Each is unique to the creator and the event it was created for. So click on those links to read what fans had to say about their Swiftieness, and make sure to hit that heart button if the bracelet content speaks to you!
