This Women's History Month, we're diving into the best mysteries and thrills in storytelling
As the days are getting longer and the seasons are about to change, it’s a sign that we’ve made it to March! The month ahead is as exciting as an extra 24 hours to watch your favorite TV shows and movies, which is what we did on February 29th. We hope you celebrated Leap Day accordingly as well!
Before we spring ahead and let you know what we’ve got planned at rmrk*st Magazine in March, let’s take a look behind us, just like the old groundhog looking for a shadow, and go over what you might have missed while hibernating last month. (Honestly, we get it.)
The beginning of February was the start of Chinese New Year, and 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, which, frankly, has us fired up. We started off the month with a look ahead to what’s in store for Remarkist. From a new Creator Program to expanding our Content Network, you can read all about our big plans in the coming months.
Since February is the official month of love, at rmrk*st our theme was romance. But February is also Black History Month, and we took the opportunity to highlight some Black voices we are loving lately. What was a great way to do both? That’s right: explore Black romance novel authors that are so hot right now. We also took a look at the best fandom podcasts out there hosted by Black creators who are fans of the same shows and movies we are.
Romance novels are just one avenue for fans of the genre to indulge in captivating love stories. Whether in books, movies, or TV shows, you can always find a romance in your preferred medium. And those romances usually follow some kind of storytelling trope, which fans love! We explored those romance tropes that are employed all across the genre. And if you love genre-blending, we put together a list of romantic movies that also center on sports and action. Romance as its own genre is very specific, but many (if not most) TV shows and movies contain stories about love in some way. Of course, because we get very excited about Gilmore Girls around here, we took a look at love languages displayed by our favorite Stars Hollow residents.
Love is certainly one of life’s great enigmas, it’s true. Which is why it’s fitting that in March our theme is going to be…mystery! That’s right: we will be looking into the mystery genre. Not true crime (though we love a twisty episode of Dateline or “My Favorite Murder” as much as the next person), but fiction devoted to questions, riddles, thrillers, and whodunits we love to dig into. It’s also Women’s History Month, so expect some female-forward content!
One more reason we are so ecstatic about March? We’ve got one more scintillating announcement: at Remarkist, we have a brand new fully-designed, feast-for-the-eyes website! You can find anything you want to know about the entire Remarkist ecosystem there. Check it out!
So onward to our list of upcoming pieces. We’ll be updating the Table of Contents below with links as we publish throughout the month–and stay tuned for surprises along the way. Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram and Tumblr, and find other fans like you in the fandom forums on our Discord!
