Halloween Rewatches, Urban Legends, Costumes and Monsters!
Spooky content headed your way all month long!
It’s October 1st, so we trust you’ve started your annual Gilmore Girls rewatch, have begun planning your Halloween theme park or haunted house outings, and stocked up on some mysteries and thrillers for cozy reading days ahead. In short, it’s fall, and autumnal fandom activities are about to kick into gear–if they haven’t already! We’ve got Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version), aka the ultimate fall soundtrack, on repeat and we’ve already seen Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice in theaters a couple of times. How else are we celebrating October? You’re about to find out.
But first, let’s go back like a syndicated sitcom on late night TV, and reflect on September 2024’s content here at rmrk*st.
In honor of the 30th anniversary of the hit show Friends, we took a look at the sitcom format as a favorite for fans around the world. We explored a very brief history of sitcoms from the 1950s through the 1970s, and from the 1980s through present day. And because TV sitcoms and film often feel so far apart content-wise, we wanted to draw connections between them by highlighting actors that started or starred on sitcoms that made a huge splash in film as well. In preparation for spooky season, we named some of our favorite paranormal sitcoms that you can add to your Halloween watch party marathons.
Friends is a sitcom that set records over its ten year run and defined a generation. But it also has stood the test of time: Friends keeps gaining new fans in part because of streaming, expanding its following amongst younger generations as those who watched as it aired consistently rewatch. In celebration of three decades of Friends, we picked one episode from each season that we feel represents the series as a whole (but we’d love to debate with fans on our picks!) And if you’re wondering which Friends side character you identify with most, we have a quiz for that!
This October, we’re feeling all the spooky vibes! Our content here at rmrk*st will be Halloween themed in terms of the fandoms we all know and love. We’ll be digging into horror movie tropes and Halloween classic rewatches, and taking a look at the best monsters and witches we all know and love. And don’t worry–we’ll give you some great Halloween costume ideas from current pop culture.
