25 Years in Stars Hollow: Gilmore Girls Anniversary Content Fans Will Love
Celebrate with soundtracks, cozy menus, a rewatch plan, iconic quotes and more!
A slight chill in the air after dark, an almost imagined waft of pumpkin spice, and a leaf or two turning a slight shade of yellow: the calendar is telling us that the summer is coming to a close and, depending on your location, you may be feeling it as well. Welcome to September, where things are undeniably shifting from one vibe to another. And here at rmrk*st, we are ready. Coffee cups in hand, we’re heading into a very special season where “the whole world changes color.”
But we aren’t leaving poolside just yet. In case you missed it, in August we celebrated the art of the rewind. Our theme was Back to Fandom, an exploration of taking stock of the fandoms that made us who we are.
The stories and content we love give us a sense of belonging, comfort us, and ignite our imaginations. Our earliest fandoms contribute to our core sense of identity, and the feelings we cultivate around our favorite things throughout our lives help us navigate how we interpret the world. Many have written books about the intricacies of specific fandoms and the inner workings of their communities, as well as the phenomenon of fandom itself. Recent pop culture reunions have reminded us that these fandoms only grow as time passes by (more on that in a bit).
We also debated the Song of the Summer (was there even one?! We say yes!) And finally, as we look ahead to new shows premiering in the fall, we put together this rewatch guide to prepare yourself for new drops and series finales (looking directly at you, Stranger Things…).
So now that you’re caught up, we can look ahead. And if we’re honest, we chose our August theme to get ready for one giant fandom moment happening this fall. We’ll give you a hint: for millions of enthusiasts, it isn’t just a show–it’s a lifestyle.
When Gilmore Girls premiered on October 5, 2000, immediately the colorful foliage of the sleepy New England hamlet of Stars Hollow set the harvest-season mood. But perhaps when Richard Gilmore emerged from Lorelai’s porch having taken a women’s magazine beauty quiz during Season 1, Episode 6, “Rory’s Birthday Parties” and announced, “I am an autumn,” a fandom identity was born. If you’re a Gilmore Girls fan, this is your season.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the premiere of Gilmore Girls, we’ll be publishing editorial content here in advance of this incredible milestone. You may have noticed many merch collabs, fan activations and more as things heat up for the anniversary, and we are just as excited as everyone else. But additionally, Gilmore Girls inhabits a special section of Remarkist history: it’s the first community of fans built on our platform! Break out the Founder’s Day Punch at meet us at the virtual gazebo; Gilmore Girls fandom is our inaugural town square.
Coming soon, you can look forward to a condensed rewatch guide, an iconic quotes list, playlists to aid your seasonal journey back into Stars Hollow, seasonal recipes from the show and beyond, and more! So grab your coffee—or your fun flask—and join us for the foliage-filled ride. We would love to hear from you, so be sure to leave us comments–we read them all and just like our favorite fast-talking heroines, we want to chat!
Like Rory, we’ve made a list….a content list, that is! Check out our table of contents below, and check back for updated links and surprises! And for more information about Remarkist, check our Discord where you can find regular updates on everything in our fandom ecosystem. And for more fan-forward content, follow us on Instagram, Threads, Tumblr and Spotify–especially our dedicated Gilmore Girls Instagram feed!
