Krizt swung the laser at the artifact, but with a wave of the King’s hand, Krizt and the sword were flung away. The King’s laughter echoed through the chamber.

Crate man, realizing the urgency of the situation, made a fateful decision. He stepped forward, placing himself between the fallen Krizt and the King. His body trembled as he unleashed a torrent of power, channeling it into the artifact. The crystal crackled and fractured under the overwhelming force, unleashing a blinding burst of energy that enveloped crate man.

He slumped to the ground. They all feared for his state, but they knew there was no time for concern of his welfare. The King was vulnerable.

Krizt brandished the laser sword once more. She charged at the King, her strikes swift and precise, the crack of laser and blue energy resonating through the chamber. Again, she was suddenly flung against the cave wall and crumpled to the ground.

A blaster bolt ripped through the King’s robe. Seeing their chance, Rez and Reena had joined the fray, raining fire on the King, but he was regaining his composure and his defenses. Just as he was about to destroy those who dared to fire on King Palaxius, his own laser sword erupted from his chest. From behind, Krizt had taken full advantage of the distraction provided by her friends.

Krizt ran to crate man's prone form with tears in her eyes. He muttered, “C5 has the coordin…” His hand raised to her cheek, but that was more effort than his spent body could give. As it fell his body shimmered and vanished!

None of them had the time to mourn or even contemplate what just happened as alarms blared throughout the cave. The group hurriedly made their way to the hangar. Spotting several military cruisers Reena shouted, “Which one?” Suddenly, one vessel roared to life with C5 already properly self-installed on the port side.

And so, with their sights set on a brighter tomorrow, the group ventured into the unknown.
