Is that a chill in the air you’re feeling? Have you seen a leaf fall in front of your eyes? It is finally upon us: the season is changing and autumn is here. Cue your favorite autumnal TV show, settle in with your comfort food of choice, and get excited for a cozy, spooky season.
We’re excited to jump into all things fall this October, but before we tell you our monthly theme, let’s go over what you might have missed in September. Our theme was Ambassadors, and we aimed to highlight those folks that act as insiders in any fandom who bridge the gap between art and audience. We highlighted a few writers, actors, and filmmakers that build spaces–both physical and virtual–for fans where they can become creators themselves. Sometimes creators use themselves as characters in their own narratives in order to pull an audience in, which we found fascinating to explore. And finally, we looked at admirers with skills who found themselves in the inner circles around their favorite musicians and franchises, just by being helpful fans.
Now that you’re caught up, let’s look ahead to October! The fall has become synonymous with Gilmore Girls fan festivals all over the country, and that got us thinking: people love to celebrate their fandoms in community with one another. That’s where our focus is this month: fan appreciation practiced through Community. Fans find support in one another when they have to wait a long time between seasons, or for a reunion to come along. They lean on each other in times of fannish grief, like when a show is canceled or a popular creator passes away. And they also support each others’ experience of the content, like making sure spoilers don’t ruin someone’s consumption of a show or movie, even new song drop from a favorite artist. We are digging into how the idea of community serves every fandom and each member of it.
So take a look at our table of contents below, and expect some surprises along the way. Make sure you are following John Cabrera and Remarkist on Instagram for news about Remarkist, and as always, you can find more information at our website and on our Discord. And since we’re talking about community, now is the time to sign up for the Folkic waitlist, which will grant access to our community app where you can find other fans just like you and build remarkable experiences together.
