Announcing The Tournament of Wigs!
Our Schitt’s Creek themed sports-style bracket competition has Moira Rose’s facing off against one another
Our current official Slate of watch party content is well underway–halfway through, actually. We spent the first half of the Slate dedicating Tuesday nights to watch parties of Abbott Elementary 🍎 Season 1, which we finished this week. Now, we will be moving into Season 6 of the final season of the beloved Schitt’s Creek!
Last Slate, we upped our watch party game when we introduced the Tournament of Threads, where the Remarkist community, and John Cabrera’s Instagram followers, decided which of David’s sweaters was the sweetest. It was such a fun community experience that we wanted to do a similar competition for the final season! But this time, we’re putting a different fashion twist on our bracket game. Get ready for the Tournament of Wigs, where we’ll be pitting Moira’s excellent wigs against each other to decide the Wackiest Wig!
What is the Tournament of Wigs?
All of the Schitt’s Creek characters are memorable in their own ways. Moira, of course, is unforgettable for her unplaceable accent, her film career, her inability to fold in the cheese, and of course, her scene-to-scene wig changes. Ask Moira how many children she has, and David and Alexis won’t even be first on her list: her wigs are as precious to her, if not more. So, how do they rank? Which are the Silliest, the most Eccentric, the Funniest, and the Wackiest? We are going to let the fandom answer. March may be over, but this will play out like a classic NCAA March Madness tournament bracket 🏀.
How does it work?
Starting right now, anyone who wants to play will fill out this form. The deadline to pick and submit your brackets is Saturday, April 22 at 6pmPT/7pmET; after that time we won’t be accepting any more form submissions. Also, very important: Make sure you have the Remarkist app! (See below for more info.)
Each week, matchups will go up via John Cabrera’s Instagram stories, and make sure you’re following him so you don’t miss a matchup! Tune in and vote ✔️ for your picks. You can ask your friends, family, and any Schitt’s Creek fans you know to vote too! Each day after a story matchup poll, our Sports Cracks account will host Schitt’s Creek themed events in the Remarkist app with trivias, gab sessions, and more. Attend to find out the winner of the matchup and to collect a Memento representing the winning wig (if you indeed picked the correct wig to win!).

We’ll be starting the tournament on Sunday, April 23 and the winning wig will be announced on Thursday, May 25.
The first round, the Silly Sixteen, will play out over two weeks with eight events (four per week). The second round, the Eccentric Eight, will face off in four matches over two weeks. The semifinal round is the Funny Four, and the winners will advance to the championship match, the Wackiest Wig. The last event will also be followed by our Series Finale watch party, so you don’t want to miss it!

Ok, but what do we win?! 🏆
Glad you asked! Don’t worry: prizes aren’t limited to just those who take all in the Wackiest Wig final showdown. Everyone will win something in this Tournament.
Our events will come with Harvest KRNLs for everyone with a Remarkist account, of course. And, many of those events will be trivia events–which means KRNL prizes for correct answers.
Remarkist members who submit a bracket will be awarded special Mementos for each wig they choose correctly–that is, each wig that the fandom awards the most votes in each matchup. So, even if you don’t guess the Wackiest Wig, you can certainly pick up earlier Mementos for other matchups.
But, it wouldn’t be a Remarkist game 🎲 without a bit of a twist. Here’s where things might get confusing if you’re not into math (we get it).
This tournament requires the unique skill of knowing the Schitt’s Creek fandom well. You aren’t picking your favorite wig. You’re choosing the wig that you are convinced will be chosen by the broader fandom… and we won’t know how many players have correctly chosen the match winner until each poll is complete. Since everyone who correctly predicts gets a special Memento, the number of editions in a prize set will likely differ for different matches.
As you know, Mementos are created using KRNLs, and the more that goes into a set, the stronger each edition will be—this is what we call Memento density. So every prize set here will have a KRNL crafting budget spread across however many editions it ends up having. Here’s what those are:
For the first eight matches of the Silly Sixteen, each prize memento set will be crafted using exactly 750 KRNLs. That will cover edition density and the set’s craft fee.
For the four Quarterfinal matches of the Eccentric Eight, the prize memento sets will be crafted with exactly 1500 KRNLs.
For the two Semifinal matches of the Funny Four, the prize sets will each be crafted using exactly 3000 KRNLs.
Our final champion Memento set for The Wackiest Wig will be crafted using exactly 6000 KRNLs.
In each case, the more players who accurately choose the fandom favorite, the more editions in that set, and the lower their KRNL density. Of course, the further into the tournament we go, the fewer correct picks there are likely to be. Fewer winners mean fewer editions sharing that crafting budget, which means higher density.
Wait…there’s more!
Memento sets from our Quarterfinal, Semifinal, and Final rounds will be composed of Mementos won in previous rounds. What does that mean? Well, you can read all about KRNL density specifics and Composable Mementos in this post, but the short of it is those later round winners will come with huge Mementos made up of (and only claimable using) the Mementos from their previous wins.
