Unwrapping the Joyful Markit: Rules, Gifts, and Delectables
We get you up to speed on our Joyful Markit!
Oh yes! The Joyful Markit is sweeping into town, and it is bringing merriment 🎄, gifts 🎁, and delectable treats 🍪 for all Remarkist Members. On the final week of our Holiday Hiatus, we’ll celebrate with an in-app Memento Marketplace of holiday knickknacks and a gifting game to go along with it. It just isn’t the holidays without a robust marketplace full of creations from local artists to browse, looking for the perfect gift for a friend while sipping a hot chocolate…(do we sound like a Hallmark holiday movie yet?) At Remarkist, we celebrate that community spirit every day, so for the holidays we are bringing that village square shopping experience to Remarkists digital form. Here’s your guide to the rules that will make this market a joyous celebration like no other!
The Markit Basics
Starting on the week of Dec 18th, Remarkist members with an app account can browse “stalls” selling various Holiday Markit Mementos. After purchasing Mementos using our in-app KRNL token, members must gift them to other Members to participate in various gift giveaways throughout the week.
The Vendors
Joyful Markit will feature a maximum of 20 stellar Markit Vendors exclusively made up of Lumo Subscribers (spots will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis for 15 Lumo subscribers and 5 Lumo or Lumo Basic subscribers). Each vendor will host two 30-minute events on either Dec 18, 19, 20, or 21. These events will essentially act as their “stalls” for releasing their Memento product with some kind of claim fee. The density and number of editions are up to the vendor, but there is a strategy for balancing edition counts to claim fees.
Events will include branded event graphics and featured carousel placement. This will provide Patrons with 40 different Mementos to choose from.
These events will be placed into the calendar by Remarkist, and will not apply to a Vendor’s quota of events within a 7-day window. Vendors can use their event time in any way they choose, whether a general gab sesh, an opportunity to showcase and “sell” their Memento design, or maybe even talk about their favorite holiday traditions. It’s up to you!
The Game
At 7:30 PM PT on Dec 19, 20, 21, and 22, there will be two random Prize Draws for Memento editions over a screenshare video on Discord.
The first Draw will award the Patron who originally purchased that edition, but only if the following conditions apply:
it has been gifted away to another member and already received by them (remember, Mementos take 24 hours to arrive when gifted)
that other member only has that one Joyful Markit Memento from that Patron. You can only gift one Memento per member to participate (this prevents members from colluding and encourages wide gifting)
The second Draw awards the Vendor who sold that Memento Edition, regardless of the Memento’s current owner or whether it is still in transit, as long as the edition has been sold. If we draw an unclaimed edition, we will draw again.
Timely Draws
So you’ll need to mark your calendar for those live Prize Draws at 7:30 PM PT. And Patrons, you’ll want to time sending your gifts because if we draw a Memento edition that is still in transit, you will not receive the prize, and we’ll draw again. Vendors have less to worry about here, as Vendor draws will award the Vendor even if the Memento is still in transit.
Food Truck Fiesta
Hold onto your taste buds because Joyful Markit goes beyond traditional stalls–what’s a holiday market without festive food and drink? And where do you go for your holiday snacks? That’s right: the Food Trucks. Any Remarkist Member, be it a Vendor or Patron, can run a Food Truck. These mobile delights offer free treats like pretzels 🥨, mulled wine 🍷, and more.
Two additional prizes and Draws on Dec 22 will award two Food Truck Vendors, bringing the total prizes to 12. The same rules apply as to the stalls, except food items will require a density of no less than 100 per edition to qualify for the Draws. There is also no limit to the number of Food Truck events you can schedule and items you can distribute other than the system restriction on events within a 7-day window. Basically, if you plan to run a few Food Trucks, clear your hosting calendar during that week.
The Market's Palette
Markit Vendors will customize pre-designed SVG icons representing the five types of Markit Items. There are only 8 of each item, and Vendors will make their first, second, and third choices when they apply for a Shopkeeper Seal. Once we’ve distributed 8 of a particular type, that type won’t be available to any other Vendors. The five items are:
Snow Globe
Angel
Dreidel
Candle
Ornament
The SVGs will come with some simple customizations like color options, and the Remarkist team will work with any Vendors who need further help customizing their SVGs.
Food Truck Vendors will craft their Mementos using icons from a specific set uploaded to our catalog through the Remarkist account. You’ll find these icons by searching the keyword “Markit Foods”. Foodies can rejoice with the following six offerings:
Pretzels
Mulled Wine
Hot Chocolate
Caramel Corn
Holiday Cookies
Fried Mac & Cheese Balls
Important Restrictions
To keep the playing field fair, purchasing KRNL packs between today and the final day of Joyful Markit renders you ineligible for the draws. We hope there are still plenty of reasons to grab packs this holiday season, but we want to keep this game based on what members have collected through their participation at Remarkist.
Also, only Lumo subscribers whose subscription start date is before the posting of these rules will have the golden ticket to become Markit Vendors. So, if you aren’t a Lumo member and you were hoping to participate as a Vendor, we’ve opened the gates to Food Trucks as a great way to join in on the fun. Schedule them as 30-minute events during the last week of the Hiatus, and we’ll give you a custom event graphic to match what you’re distributing.
Prizes
What about those Prize Draws? While we hope that everyone will be delighted by the Memento gifting frenzy, the prizes are a little extra delightful cheer for the season. The twelve prizes will include original artwork by Unboiled, KRNL Packs, and the final two Memoir pages in Unboiled’s micro-memoir of his time on Gilmore Girls and beyond. Like the Draws, the exact prizes awarded will be chosen randomly live using the same random generator.
How to Participate
To participate as a Patron, it’s pretty simple. Just log into the Remarkist app on the week of Dec 18, claim Mementos from our Vendors, and then gift each one to a different member. Adding a sweet holiday greeting is optional, but nobody likes a Grinch!
If you’re a new member, you might not have much of a KRNL balance. To start growing that now, simply RSVP to events in the calendar (up to three days ahead) and Harvest from those events when the event ends (you don’t even need to attend the event). New Members can also complete tasks from their checklist—things like adding a bio, uploading a profile pic, etc—to earn up to 600 KRNL! Find that checklist in the lower right preferences tab.
If you don’t have an app account, you’ll need an invite to get in. The best way to score an invite is to join our Discord server, head over to our #general-chat, and ask if anyone has any invites to spare.
For Lumo subscribers interested in participating as Vendors, applications will open on December 1 on our Discord Server.
For Members interested in participating as Food Truck Vendors, simply schedule a 30-minute event during the week of Dec 18 (any event type works for Food Trucks, including 30-minute watches), add the brand title Markit Food Trucks, use the title of the event to give your food truck a name (be creative!), and craft a Memento set with an edition density of no less than 100 KRNL. Our team will do the rest.
