’Tis the Season for Remarkist Holiday Events
Check out our slate of official holiday watches, parties, and games! 🎄📺
Remarkist has put together six weeks of holiday events starting on Saturday, November 19th! The late summer breeze has gotten a bite, and we can smell snow. Or is that a turkey frier? 🦃
Join us for over two dozen Remarkist holiday events, including weekly watches and our very own official 2022 holiday parties. That’s right, plural! We are timezone-friendly at Remarkist! See the holiday party info at the bottom of this post.
But the most exciting part of this Holiday schedule?
It will all take place inside the Remarkist app!
If you’ve been away for a while, you might be surprised to learn that Remarkist has officially begun a transition into our own native audio chat rooms—similar to Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces. We call them Audio Dens, and they’ll be the venue for a joyous slate of holiday programming! 🗣
If you don’t have our app yet, learn how to get it for free so that you can join in on some of the fun.
And subscribe to this magazine, if you aren’t already, to get updates and musings on pop culture, fandom, and all things Remarkist, including holiday-themed campaigns like this one.
Remarkist Holiday Channel
The Remarkist Holiday Channel is our brand for the official holiday slate, consisting of weekly watches with a seasonal style. We’ve curated a slew of films, a few specials, and one streaming series to round out our holiday programming. Christmas and Hanukkah are both represented, and we chose a few different genres, all with a fair amount of holiday cheer. Browse these events in the app by searching “Remarkist Holiday Channel” on our search tab.
Any movies or subscriptions you rent or purchase will come with KRNLs. We’ll be giving 100 KRNLs for every dollar you spend (rounded up from 90 cents or higher). You just need to join our Discord, send your receipt to one of our admins, and the KRNLs will be in your account within a day or two. Note: If your purchase includes a free trial, you’ll need to wait and send us the subsequent receipt showing that you kept the subscription.
Alright, let’s take a closer look at that holiday slate already!

Spirited (Apple TV+)
We imagine that the pitch for this movie included Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds in cheaper versions of the outfits above singing a duet of the film’s full plot to Apple execs. Are we alone in that? This musical comedy lives in our A Christmas Carol World as a modern retelling of the Dickens classic. It premieres only one day before our slated watch event, which will be the newest official content we’ve ever watched together. We’re expecting an Elf-level classic here, so please join us to witness that history in the making.
Thursday, November 24, 2022 @ 12:30 PM ET/ 9:30 AM PT
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (Apple TV+)
It’s becoming a tradition at Remarkist to catch up with Chuck and friends during the holidays. We’ve watched A Charlie Brown Christmas, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and there are lots more we still haven’t gotten to. Come join us for a Thanksgiving feast with this little gang of nuts, and help us continue to build out this delightful World at Remarkist.
Thursday, November 24, 2022 @ 10 PM ET / 7 PM PT
Cheers, Season 5, Episode 9 - Thanksgiving Orphans (Paramount+)
This sits at the top of almost every list of best Thanksgiving Television episodes. In addition to streaming on Paramount+, you can also buy the episode for a few dollars on Amazon, which might be worth it—it’s a classic and features one of the most epic displays of Thanksgiving generosity ever filmed. So plop down on the couch after stuffing yourself, let that l-tryptophan work its magic, and join us at a place where everybody knows your name… Remarkist, of course!
Saturday, November 26, 2022 @ 3:45 PM ET / 12:45 PM PT
The Noel Diary (Netflix)
The movie looks like it could be the This is Us of holiday movies this year. It stars Justin Hartley as a dude in a snow-covered car with a dog in the backseat. Okay, we don’t know much about the film. We didn’t want to spoil ourselves, but you can check out the trailer here. It’s based on a novel of the same name, and Netflix is pushing it hard this season. We’re watching this two days after its release, so it’s another new one. And since non-comical dogs in promo posters are usually a sign that the movie will be sad (even comical dogs sometimes), you’d better have your box of tissues at the ready.
Saturday, December 3, 2022 @ 10:30 PM ET / 7:30 PM PT
Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (Netflix)
We love a twist on a timeless (pun intended) classic. Our Slate’s second holiday adaptation of A Christmas Carol promises time travel, the supernatural, and another musical telling of the tale! And since it’s new on Netflix, it’s another one we’ll be experiencing for the first time together!
Home For Christmas - Season 1 (Netflix)
Mon, Wed, & Fri—Dec 5, 7, 9, 2022 @ 3:30 PM ET / 12:30 PM PT
This Norwegian series is a fan favorite. It premiered in 2019, so we are catching up here at Remarkist and hope to introduce it to anyone who hasn’t watched yet! The premise: a single woman is pressured by both her family and society to partner up, so she sets out on a quest to find someone to bring home as her date for the holidays. What’s a holiday without a little relatable family drama? Non-Norwegian speakers can choose dubbed or subtitled.
Saturday, December 10, 2022 @ 4:30 PM ET / 1:30 PM PT
Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock - 2022 Holiday Special (Apple TV+)
Nostalgia abounds! For anyone who grew up with Fraggle Rock and appreciated its playful exploration of social and cultural issues, this is a super exciting release. Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, a new series, premiered on Apple TV+ earlier this year, and we cannot wait for this holiday special about the Fraggles’ Night of the Lights.
Home For Christmas - Season 2 (Netflix)
Mon, Wed, & Fri—Dec 12, 14, 16, 2022 @ 3:30 PM ET / 12:30 PM PT
Season 2 of this series premiered in 2020 and picked up exactly where the last one left off. Since we won’t have to wait a year to find out what happens next, this should feel like the second half of a single season.
Saturday, December 17, 2022 @ 3:30 PM ET / 12:30 PM PT
Hitched for the Holidays (Amazon for purchase or Hallmark add-on)
This is an older Hallmark movie, but we love so much that it stars Emily Hampshire, one of our favorite actresses from Schitt’s Creek—oh, who are we kidding? They’re all our favorites. Two single folks are looking to find a date for the holidays so that their families will stop giving them flack about it. They find each other online and agree to help one another out, but their cultural backgrounds set the stage for some complicated family dynamics. We love an inter-denominational holiday flick.
Tuesday, December 20, 2022 @ 10:30 PM ET / 7:30 PM PT
Hanukkah on Rye (Amazon for purchase or Hallmark add-on)
We can’t wait for this Hallmark new-for-2022 original movie. There are very few details we can find about the movie online, which makes it even more exciting. And while most of the Hallmark holiday fare is at least somewhat focused on Christmas, we are super jazzed that this one is fully centered around Hanukkah.
Thursday, December 22, 2022 @ 10 PM ET / 7 PM PT
Gilmore Girls, S2, Ep10 - The Bracebridge Dinner (Netflix)
No explanation needed here… except perhaps the celebrity inspiration for any snowmen we happen to build.
Holiday Parties!
In addition to all of those watch parties, we have several holiday gatherings:
Friday, December 23, 2022
At 9:30 PM CET / 12:30 PM PT join us for an afternoon Holiday Social to celebrate a year of Remarkist with our European fam. Bring coffee or punch, whatever is time appropriate.
Then later that evening @ 9:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM PT, for the North Americans (and anyone easterly with the stamina), we’ll be rocking around the Christmas tree, then Yemenite stepping around the menorah for our official 2022 Remarkist Holiday Party. 🎄🕎
Both the Social and the Party are slated as Jukebox events. We’ll be listening to holiday music 🎶 and playing some games 🏆. Expect some prizes and plenty of laughter.
And finally, we’ll be ringing in the New Year at multiple half-hour events throughout Saturday, December 31, 2022. We aim to hit every timezone in our community, so when the clock strikes midnight where you are, hop onto the Remarkist app for a quick ringing-in of 2023 with friends worldwide. 🎉Check the app for the exact start times of all New Year’s Audio Dens that day.
We’re thrilled to celebrate with you and hope you are as excited as we are!
