Our First In-Person Meet-up!
Okay, I can officially announce details on the first in-person Remarkist meet-up! 🎉Â
It’ll be happening Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 in Kent, Connecticut—which just so happens to coincide with the Fan Fest many of us know well, and some of us will be attending.
Our event will be a breakfast buffet from 8am to 9:30am at the Fife ‘n Drum, a popular local spot in the town.
This is not a meet & greet
I’ll be in Kent that weekend participating in the Fan Fest, and the festival has a meet & greet scheduled with me and other members of the cast. I absolutely cannot compete with Fan Fest, and I don’t want to. This meet-up is only possible because of Fan Fest; if you are seeing this simply as an opportunity for a private hangout with a GG cast member, I ask that you forego attending this. If you have a ticket to Fan Fest, meet me there instead. It’s going to be a great time, and I always try to make my meet & greets super casual and personal.
This, however, is a Remarkist meet-up; an opportunity for active members of the project who have been bonding over the past several months to get together and toast to the project and to the year ahead. You should know if you fit that bill because you’ve been an active part of the Remarkist community. For example, I know I fit that bill. I consider myself just one of the attendees of this meet-up, and I’m seriously so excited to meet others from the community in person.
And as much as I’d love to let folks bring a guest or two, I can’t do that either. The number of people who have expressed interest in attending already brings our event to pretty close to maximum capacity. We’re in a pandemic, this meet-up will be inside a restaurant, and although we will have some strict protocols in place for the event, I have a baby daughter back home, and I don’t even want to role a pair of 1000-sided dice here. Unfortunately no plus 1s. No exceptions. I’m sorry.
Criteria
So how can you prove your participation in this project? There are a few ways:
If you have an Original Townie Memento, that will qualify you without any extra hoops to jump through. I’ve been saying that Memento was important since the moment it was dropped. And it will continue to be.
If you don’t have the OT memento, then you need at least one other Memento that you claimed (not gifted to you and it needs to be in restored shape) and proof in your Earnings that you have harvested from at least 10 events. That tells me you’ve been playing with us at least somewhat during these past 5 months.
If you had the OT memento, but you lost it, because you didn’t get the notice that Mementos would soon begin to degrade and eventually be claimable by others, then you should still have most, if not all, of the KRNLs that were granted to you for claiming the OT memento. Proof of that grant should be in your Earnings. I’d need to see it, and I may ask for you to send it my way.
If you don’t qualify for any of these things then at the least I need to know somehow that you participated in Remarkist. One way would be an account on Clubhouse with a sign-up date that’s July or earlier and your profile should list the person who invited you onto Clubhouse as someone who meets the first two criteria above. If you have a Remarkist app account with a sign-up date of July or earlier, even better.
I realize those last two criteria are kinda dicey and could open the door to someone who didn’t really participate in Remarkist tagging along as a plus one of someone who was part of Remarkist. So I would just ask again that you please consider whether you have really given the project much consideration, whether you’re excited for the road ahead with Remarkist—and not just Gilmore Girls, but at least how Gilmore Girls will fit into the broader Remarkist project… because everyone there will be excited about those things and attending because of those things. Some of them will be traveling with guests themselves and won’t be bringing them for all the reasons I’ve mentioned.
COVID Requirements
You need to be fully vaccinated. I need proof of that. Many of you are attending Fan Fest, and the festival has the same requirement in place, so if they’re letting you through the doors then you should be able to send me the same proof you sent them. If you aren’t attending Fan Fest, I definitely need proof of your vaccination. I already mentioned this, but I have a baby daughter and I just can’t risk it.
I’ll need that vax report attached to the Google Form below.
Non-Virtual
I’ve gone back and forth on this one, and I’m bummed that I have to go this route because I would love to see all of you at this event, but this meet-up won’t be virtual. It’ll just be too difficult to manage during what I want to be a casual breakfast-gathering of friends. Bringing a computer and Google Meet into the mix turns it into something more formal and frankly more akin to Fan Fest itself. I’ll be all over Fan Fest, so if you plan to participate in the virtual side of that festival, expect to see me there! And expect lots of virtual events at Remarkist over the coming year! Including video events!
Registration
So if you would like to attend our meet-up and you meet the criteria above, please fill out this registration form with all the appropriate information by no later than October 15th at 11:59pm PT. Every attendee will need to fill this out individually and by that date to be officially RSVPed. No exceptions for folks getting it in late as I’ll need to move ahead with payment for the event. And please do not send this Google Form link to others. Anyone interested that qualifies should read this post first so they understand what is expected. The cost will be around $26 per person; we will confirm once everyone has RSVP’ed. I’ll reach out to you after the 15th to coordinate payment.
Oh, man! Are we really doing this?! I can’t wait to see all of you! Will I even recognize you without pictures of your cats taped to your faces? Or Pixar versions of yourself? We’ll see!
Oh and P.S.… should I drop a Memento for this? I probably should, shouldn’t I?
